Policies & Principles
Melbourne Handball Club (MHC) adheres to the Victorian Government’s Fair Play Code and have incorporate its principles into our code of conduct and other governance policies. All MHC policies are reviewed and modified on a bi-annual basis. Recommendations for changes can be submitted to board members at any time. If a change is consequently required, this will then be tabled for discussion at the next board meeting.
As an affiliated member of the Australian Handball Federation, MHC and its members need to follow the rules set out in Sport Integrity Australia’s The National Integrity Framework. The Framework is a set of rules that all members of handball need to follow when it comes to their behaviour and conduct. Handball Australia’s policies can be found here.
Code of Conduct
Melbourne Handball Club adheres to Handball Victoria’s General Code of Conduct. This Policy applies to all persons involved in the club and applies to all environments where interactions may occur, whether physical or digital.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
In Melbourne Handball Club we respect and welcome people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, abilities and cultures. We aim to create positive and inclusive experiences for everyone who participate in club activities. We are currently working with groups and organizations, like This Girl Can - Victoria and Proud2Play, to promote participation by underrepresented cohorts, such as girls/women and people in the LGBTIQA+ community. MHC’s current Inclusion Policy can be found here. This plan will be reviewed in early-2025 when the club is due to partake in Proud2Play's Rainbow Roadmap program, which includes a comprehensive assessment of the club's current inclusivity measures.
Child Safety
Melbourne Handball Club is committed to ensuring that young athletes who participate in club activities have a safe and happy experience. All MHC coaches and relevant volunteers have valid Working with Children certificates and have completed the Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction course developed and offered by Sports Integrity Australia and Play by the Rules. To protect the safety of children in our care we adhere to Handball Victoria’s Child Safe Policy and Child Safe Code of Conduct.
